At a Western Australian gold mine the customer had\u00a0an ongoing issue with the counterweight assemblies\u00a0within their MP1000 crushers, not lasting to scheduled\u00a0manganese liner change-outs. This was attributed\u00a0to the top guard wearing through, causing excessive\u00a0wear to the counterweight sub-assembly. The\u00a0counterweight then became unbalanced, leading to\u00a0excessive vibrations within the crusher. Our client was\u00a0then forced into shutdown mode on a breakdown\u00a0basis to get the counterweight assembly immediately\u00a0changed out.\u00a0In addition to the repair and static rebalancing of\u00a0the counterweight; H-E Parts recommended that\u00a0the customer have both the top guard and outer\u00a0guard manufactured with H-E Parts Protech\u2122 PT-650 wear plate, which has superior wear and impact\u00a0resistance in comparison to the original 400 Brinell\u00a0Q&T plate. In consultation with H-E Parts in-house\u00a0engineering department, our off-site repairs team\u00a0then custom-fabricated and installed the PT-650 fitted\u00a0counterweight guards at our Perth facility.<\/p>\n
Since the first MP1000 counterweight fitted with PT-650 guards were put into service, the plant availability\u00a0was greatly increased as a result of the counterweight\u00a0life performing well past scheduled shutdowns; up\u00a0to 12 months. The counterweight repair cost was\u00a0reduced by more than 50% through protection of the\u00a0counterweight assembly.
